Study of Cargo Transportation in Indonesia – Cargo transportation holds an essential role to support successful development of a country, particularly to encourage people’s economic activities in cargo distribution. In globalization era, one of life necessities is the need of cargo deliveries to various places so cargo transportation services become very vital.

Presently, the development of online sale industry grows rapidly, in line with the rising demand for goods and services suited to consumers’ need. The largest need of cargo transportation services come from companies which have made this industry as an instrument to accelerate their businesses.

Based on a research of CDMI that in the last six years (2012 – 2017), cargo transportation services including land, sea, air and railway transportations had increased rapidly. From four transportation modes, sea transportation services have the highest transportation volume. In 2012, cargoes carried by sea transportation reached 952.69 million tons increased to 1.66 billion tons in 2016. From these figures, sea transportation with overseas destination contributed 61.8% while the contribution of domestic sea transportation was 38.2%.
